Types of High-End Inserts

1. Exotic Natural Woods

These are prized for their density, oil content, and "figure" (the visual pattern of the wood fibers).

• Burls: These come from tree growths where the grain has grown in a deformed, swirling manner. Examples include Amboyna Burl, Buckeye Burl, and Maple Burl.
• Species with High Chatoyancy: Woods like Koa, Desert Ironwood, and African Blackwood are popular for their "cat’s eye" reflective quality.
• Spalted Woods: Wood that has begun the initial stages of decay, resulting in dramatic black "zone lines" (common in Spalted Tamarind or Maple).

2. Hybrid Inserts (Wood + Resin)

Hybrids are created by placing a piece of "live edge" or "stabilized" wood into a mold and casting it in colored epoxy resin.

3. Stabilized Inserts

• Immune to warping or cracking from humidity.
